Aditi Shivaramakrishnan

Aditi Shivaramakrishnan (Singapore)

Aditi Shivaramakrishnan is a Senior Editor at Difference Engine, an independent comics publisher in Singapore. She has also formerly worked on art books, comics, and young adult fiction titles at Epigram Books and National Gallery Singapore. Her writing has been published in ArtsEquator, Esplanade Offstage, Jom, Portside Review, and elsewhere.

Alyssa Christudason

Alyssa Christudason (Singapore)

Alyssa Christudason is a Singaporean Educator and Reading Specialist, with more than 20 years of experience in teaching children of various age groups. Alyssa is the founder of @pixiephonics, where she teaches children how to read using phonics. She is also the author of Under A Crescent Moon And Five Stars and Fold Me To The Moon. Alyssa combines her knowledge, experience, and love for art to curate and narrate meaningful stories for children. She is also currently teaching at Holland International School. 

Amanda Ruiqing Flynn

Amanda Ruiqing Flynn (Singapore)

Amanda Ruiqing Flynn is a multi-disciplinary artist whose creative output spans the realms of visual art, prose, poetry and translation. Her stories, essays and poetry can be found in Quarterly Literary Review Singapore, Eunoia Review, This is Southeast Asia and Alluvium, the journal of Literary Shanghai. She was a judge of the 8th Bai Meigui Translation Competition and co-editor of Singapore in the Eyes of Mother Artists. She has worked on translation projects with institutions such as National Taiwan Museum of Literature and National Taiwan Museum. She graduated with a BA (1st) in Chinese and Development Studies from SOAS, University of London, and a Masters of Fine Art (dist.) in Art and Design from National Donghwa University under the Taiwan Scholarship Programme. Raised in Kent, United Kingdom, she currently resides in her birthplace, Singapore, and on most days, is chief storyteller to her four-year-old son.

Amber Chen

Amber Chen (Singapore)

Amber Chen is the UK #1 bestselling author of the YA silkpunk fantasy novel, Of Jade and Dragons. She is currently based in sweltering Singapore and spends much of her free time living within Chinese fantasy novels and dramas. She also drinks one too many cups of bubble tea. One of her webnovels, The Cutting Edge, has been adapted for television.

Ana Zhao

赵阿娜 (Ana Zhao ) (Australia)

Her work focuses on adapting texts to align with Chinese cultural values, ensuring that educational themes resonate authentically. 

Angela Newby

Angela Newby (Singapore)

Angela has over 20 years of experience as a technology educator and leader in international schools across Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Cairo. She is the Head of Digital Learning for K-12 at UWCSEA East campus here in Singapore. Committed to lifelong learning, Angela is deeply exploring the rapidly evolving field of artificial intelligence. She believes in a shared journey of discovery and growth for educators and students alike. Her focus is on not only harnessing the potential of AI in the learning process but also thoughtfully examining its impact and ethical considerations. She emphasises the importance of developing essential human skills alongside technological advancements. Angela is dedicated to empowering both educators and students, advocating for a human-centered approach to AI literacy that prioritizes ethics, digital citizenship, and the preservation of core human values in an increasingly tech-driven world.

Anna Fleming

Anna Fleming (Singapore)

Anna Fleming has worked as an editor and publisher, publishing research and teacher handbooks on children’s literature and education at Macmillan and Bloomsbury. Having moved into digital publishing, she is now Publisher at Scholastic Education International where her portfolio includes Literacy Pro, a digital library of authentic stories from around the world. She has two sons and has seen first-hand the power of the right story to transform a reluctant reader into a bookworm.

Arif Rafhan

Arif Rafhan (Malaysia)

Arif Rafhan is an award winning comic artist based in Kuala Lumpur. His work can be seen in more than 40 publications in Malaysia, Singapore & the US. His contribution includes Malaysia’s longest running humor magazine, Gila-Gila, and has been working under Lat for his latest graphic novel, Mat Som 2.

Arif is collaborating with RXP.KL for an immersive show, Hanya Batik, which showcases Malaysia’s rich history in animated batik format. Other clients include Sony Pictures, Hotlink & Grab.

Baek Jee Hye

백지혜 (Baek Jee Hye) (Korea)

Baek Jee Hye is a Korean painter who deeply cherishes the beauty and tradition of classical Korean art. She studied East Asian Painting at Ewha Womans University and specialized in traditional Jinchae painting at Hansung University’s graduate school, earning a Ph.D. in Fine Arts with her dissertation, ‘A Study on Portraiture Techniques Applied from Late Joseon Dynasty Portraits’.

Using traditional coloring techniques and materials, she creates portraits and floral paintings on silk, presenting her work through exhibitions, publications, and various media. She has held 17 solo exhibitions, including Garden of Consolation (Gallery Minjung, Seoul, 2022), Capturing People (Insa Art Center, Seoul, 2021), and Certain Times (Gallery Grimson, Seoul, 2018), and has also published three picture books.

Currently, she grows peonies and tree peonies in a small garden, drawing inspiration from the flowers she grew up with. Through her picture books, she hopes to introduce these cherished blossoms to young readers.

Cha Eunsil

차은실 (Cha Eunsil) (Korea)

After majoring in economics at university, Cha Eunsil has worked as an illustrator for over ten years, engaging in various creative projects. Currently, she focuses on creating picture books.

She is particularly interested in exploring the meaning of living together and the value of small, seemingly insignificant things through her picture books. She views life as a continuous journey of curiosity and choices, and she seeks to capture the process of growth within relationships.

She approaches picture books as more than just simple stories—they are a window that can pose profound questions to readers and offer new perspectives on the world.

She actively participates in exhibitions and book festivals, valuing direct communication with readers. Moving forward, she hopes to continue connecting with more people through picture books and meaningful storytelling.

 
Chen Wei Teng

Chen Wei Teng (Singapore)

Wei Teng is a literacy specialist and author who believes in empowering neurodivergent learners to march to their own beat. She works with children and teens with specific learning differences such as dyslexia and ADHD and previously served at NorthLight School, where she supported at-risk youth from disadvantaged backgrounds who struggled with literacy. Her picture book, Murphy, See How You Shine!, won the Moonbeam Children’s Picture Book Gold Award (e-book category) in 2018. Most recently, she published her memoir titled Zen Musings from a Fly on the Wall. Beyond the classroom, Wei Teng has volunteered in both local and international communities—where she helped put together a library and train teachers in Nepal and Cambodia. She now runs her own educational consultancy, The Oak Planters, and is an associate member of the Storytelling Association (Singapore). 

Chloe Chang

Chloe Chang (Singapore)

Chloe Chang graduated from the School of Art, Design and Media (ADM), Nanyang Technological University Singapore, with a degree in Digital Animation. She has worked in both television and print media as an illustrator and character designer. She now focuses on children’s book illustration and works with local and international publishers. In 2024, Chloe was awarded the inaugural Illustrator of the Year and also won the Crystal Kite award in the same year for her work in Windows to the World.

Chloe Ng

Chloe Ng (Singapore)

Chloe knows that loved children learn. Not from theory, but through her research and experience working with children—and how far short she sometimes fell. She started building 32 Pages, a school of emotions, as an undergraduate to help adults who faced the same challenges: to become more effective learning facilitators who first listen, guide, and help children feel at home in themselves. She now supports aspiring changemakers at SUSS Entrepreneurship and has represented Singapore at the 2024 United Nations ECOSOC Youth Forum.

Chun-Liang Yeh

叶俊良 (Chun-Liang Yeh) (Taiwan/France)

叶俊良来自台湾,2007 年与黎雅格 Loïc Jacob 在法国创办鸿飞文化出版社。鸿飞每年出版约 10 种新书,大部分是以旅行、对未知的好奇和人我关系为主轴的儿童图画故事书,其中《花木兰》以其出色的插图获得2015 年上海陈伯吹国际儿童文学奖。叶俊良长期与欧洲伙伴合作,善于和创作者展开对话,提供法国读者能够理解和欣赏的图画书,包括具有亚洲文化内容的作品。

Chun-Liang Yeh grew up in Taiwan and founded the publishing house HongFei Cultures with Loïc Jacob in France in 2007. HongFei publishes about 10 new titles per year, most of which are picture books for children on three major themes : Travelling, Curiosity and Relationships. La Ballade de Mulan won the Chen Bochui Award in Shanghai in 2015 with its outstanding illustrations. Chun-Liang Yeh, having worked with European partners for many years, is at ease in guiding creators to deliver picture books, including those with Asian cultural content, that can be understood and appreciated by French readers.

Clémence Pollet

Clémence Pollet (France)

Clémence Pollet, born in Paris and grown up in Belgium, studied at the École Estienne (Paris) and the École des Arts Décoratifs (Strasbourg) before a stay as guest student in Bologna (Italy) which inspired her creative work. Collaborating with HongFei Editions since 2012, she has worked on important texts and figures of the Chinese culture including La Ballade de Mulan (2015) which won the Chen Bochui International Award in Shanghai, and The Life of Confucius (2018) available in French and Chinese languages.

Dardanelleis Balisi-Lizaso

Dardanelleis Balisi-Lizaso (Philippines)

Dardanelleis Balisi-Lizaso is an independent writer and early childhood educator whose 32 years of teaching have shaped not just young minds, but hearts as well. Based in Singapore and a mother of five, she draws from the richness of oral storytelling traditions to breathe new life into timeless tales, inviting children to discover the magic in words. With a deep love for physical books, Doli has ventured into self-publishing, sharing stories that kindle curiosity and keep wonder alive. She is passionate about helping children decode words and spurring them to become readers who are hungry for the flavors of words.

Darel Seow

Darel Seow (Singapore)

Darel Seow is a visual storyteller, educator and designer who illustrates the tales of the natural world through his unique brand of wry wit and whimsy. He believes in the draw of storytelling as a means of engagement, creating experiences that simultaneously excite and educate. His multi-disciplinary practice is centred on man’s changing relationship with nature, in which he explores learning through the power of storytelling, imagination and play. These come to life through his works spanning public art, interactive experiences and of course picture books, which tell and re-tell uniquely Singaporean stories. 

David Liew

David Liew

David Liew, an illustrator of children’s books, also crafts miniature worlds. Formerly a junior college teacher, he transitioned to professional illustration. His works include series like "Ellie Belly," "The Plano Adventures," and "Change Makers." Liew instructs Picture Book illustration at the National Institute of Early Childhood Education and teaches art at Republic Polytechnic. He serves as Regional Advisor for the Singapore Chapter of the Society of Children’s Books and Illustrators.

Deanna Belluti

Deanna Belluti (Italy)

With over twenty years of experience in the field, Deanna Belluti is the Illustration and Translation Events Manager at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, the leading international trade fair dedicated to books and content for young readers.

At BCBF, she is responsible for the exhibitions and events focused on illustration, including the international tour of the Bologna Illustrators Exhibition and the special initiatives. Among these are the “Italian Excellence” exhibition series—presented in more than thirty countries, the “Chinese Excellence in Children’s Illustration” exhibitions, organized in collaboration with institutional and international partners. Her activity also included projects such as the exhibition “Off the Page… and in the World of Fashion”, in partnership with Pitti Immagine; the illustration contest “The Children Spectator”, developed in the framework of the European project “Mapping – A Map on the Aesthetics of Performing Arts for Early Years; and the international competition “Join the Revolution! Giving Every Child Good Books”, created for the 39th IBBY International Congress.

In the field of translation, Deanna Belluti coordinates the BCBF Translators Centre, whose activities include the Translators’ Café—a hub for international exchange and debate among translators of children’s books and professionals from the publishing industry—the “In Altre Parole” translation contest, and the “World Directory of Children’s Book Translators”, an international database of translators specializing in children's literature.

Among the international events to which she has been invited are: serving on the jury of the Catálogo Iberoamérica de Ilustración in Guadalajara (2014); participation in “L’Œil du monde”, an initiative focused on international creativity and intercultural exchange, held in Nantes (2023); the Bangkok Illustration Fair (BKKIF), where she served as a reviewer (2024); and the European Literary Translation Conference, held in Strasbourg (2024).

Debby Lukito Goeyardi

Debby Lukito Goeyardi (Indonesia)

Debby Lukito Goeyardi is an author of children's and young adult literature, a literacy facilitator, speaker, yoga teacher and a national judge. Her literary repertoire includes dozens of published works, ranging from children's storybooks to documentary film scripts and educational comics. She has contributed to the Indonesia Ministry of Education, Culture, Research & Technology and the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection. 

Denise Tan

Denise Tan (Singapore)

Denise started Closetful of Books after six years of working with children’s literature. With Closetful of Books, she shares her love for reading through specially-tailored workshops with authors and illustrators and super-duper fun book fairs in local and international schools. Denise also puts her studies in Mass Communications and English Literature to good use by spending all her time reading.

Dimity Powell

Dimity Powell (Australia)

Award winning children's author, Dimity Powell loves filling every spare moment with words. She is the Managing Editor for Kids’ Book Review who writes and reviews exclusively for children with over 30 published stories and digital narratives including the award-winning, This is My Dad (2022), At the End of Holyrood Lane (2018) and the critically acclaimed, The Fix-It Man (2017). Several of her titles have been published in simplified Chinese, Polish, Spanish and Slovenian. She believes in the transformative power of storytelling, the restorative power of chocolate ice-cream and superheroes because she lives near one on the Gold Coast, Australia. 

Dorcas Tang Wen Yu

Dorcas Tang Wen Yu (Singapore)

Dorcas is an artist, illustrator and upcoming picture book author. An avid lover of stories at heart, she uses creativity to spark joy, tell powerful messages and bring people together. Turning the Tides, a community mural calling for environmental action, won the merit award in the 2023 Lively Places Challenge. In 2024, Dorcas led The Light Within Us, a community mural that celebrates the lives of seniors. Her work has been featured in multiple media outlets such as Her World, The Straits Times and The ASEAN Magazine, and has been exhibited in Singapore, Glasgow and Egypt.

Edmund Chen

Edmund Chen (Singapore)

Edmund Chen is a prolific actor with over 100 TV dramas, 18 films, and four stage plays. As a producer, he’s directed two films and released four solo albums. A Guinness World Record holder for the Longest Painting (601m), he’s also won 8 design awards across Asia. Edmund has authored 14 books with 700,000+ copies in print and created games, exhibitions, and animations with over 2 million viewers. Named Southeast Asia’s Best New Children’s Writer and a National Library Reading Ambassador, his creative leadership extends to education, defence, and charity.

Eugene Evasco

Eugene Evasco (Philippines)

Eugene Y. Evasco is a writer, editor, translator, and collector of children’s books. He is currently a Full Professor at the UP College of Arts and Letters. Some of his new books at Lampara are Ang Nag-iisa at Natatanging si OnyokAng Singsing-Pari sa PisaraAng Beybi naming Mamaw, and the Filipino translation of Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White. In 2014, he won the UP Gawad sa Natatanging Publikasyon sa Filipino (Malikhaing Pagsulat category). He became a part of the Hall of Fame of the Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature in 2009 and is currently a Fellow of the UP Institute of Creative Writing. He was accepted as a Research Fellow to the International Youth Library in Munich, Germany.

Evelyn Ghozalli

Evelyn Ghozalli (Indonesia)

Evelyn Ghozalli has illustrated more than 80 children’s stories and written several under the pseudonym EorG, and has won several awards, including the Samsung KidsTime Award 2016, Best Illustrator Award at the Islamic Book Fair 2018 and the Indonesia Art Award 2018. She is also the founder of the Indonesian Children’s Book Illustrators Circle (KELIR).

Evelyn Sue Wong

Evelyn Sue Wong (Canada/Singapore)

Evelyn Sue Wong is author of the Just a Little Mynah series, the first multilingual picture books published in Singapore. She writes to spark children’s imagination, with hope for real change. Her stories have been performed in children’s theatre, schools and festivals. Evelyn grew up with her father’s love for flying. She earned her wings with a private pilot’s license when she was 19 and is still flying, with children and books.

Far’ain Jaafar

Far’ain Jaafar (Singapore)

Far’ain Jaafar is an educator, and a published children's book author. She is dedicated to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in her work and publications. She is an award-winning advocate and educational leader with more than 15 years of experience in the field of education and youth development. Her areas of advocacy revolve around children, women, youth, and families.

Felicia Low-Jimenez

Felicia Low-Jimenez

Felicia Low-Jimenez has worked in bookselling and publishing for over a decade. She is the Publisher at Difference Engine, an independent comics publisher in Singapore. She is also one half of the writing team behind the best-selling Sherlock Sam series of children’s books. She has her first published adult fantasy short story in Fish Eats Lion Redux.

Francesca Wah

Francesca Wah (Singapore)

Francesca is an educator by profession and a social worker by conviction. She started a charity organisation, Bringing Love to Every Single Soul (BLESS), that reaches out to the less privileged children. One of BLESS' programmes, Shining Star Reads, aims to impart literacy skills to the children residing in rental flats. 

Fred Minn

Fred Minn (South Korea)

With numerous leadership roles in storytelling-related organisations, Fred Minn has built a career in creating interactive content from picture books.

Following a family legacy in the publishing industry, his work over the years has focused on making books and culture more accessible to children, while supporting the development of the picture book industry by actively participating in the work of foundations such as IBBY.

His efforts in organising the annual NAMBOOK Festival and the biannual NAMI COUNCOURS, held at one of South Korea’s most popular tourist destinations, Nami Island, have brought picture books and the art of picture book illustration out of traditional venues such as libraries, and into the realm of active participation and enjoyment for the hundreds of thousands of visitors who have joined the events over the years.

Fynn Sor

Fynn Sor (Singapore)

Fynn is the founder of Happy Tot Shelf, where she shares fun, hands-on learning ideas to help parents make learning playful and meaningful at home. What started as a blog has grown into a vibrant community of over two million parents and educators. With a background in engineering and education, Fynn has taught Math and Science in Singapore and Sweden, and worked in play-based preschools in the U.S. She’s passionate about helping parents raise happy, curious little learners through simple, everyday moments.

Gwee Li Sui

Gwee Li Sui (Singapore)

Gwee Li Sui has been translating literary classics into Singlish, Singapore’s well-loved English-based patois, for years. They include Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s The Leeter Tunku, Beatrix Potter’s A Tale of Peter LabbitGrimm’s Fairy Tales in Singlish, and A. A. Milne’s Winnie-da-Pooh. His latest translation, George Orwell’s Kaka Farm, features his own illustrations. Gwee has also published seven volumes of poetry; a picture book Amazing Things, available in Burmese and Korean; non-fiction titles Spiaking Singlish and FEAR NO POETRY!; and, long agoMyth of the Stone, Singapore’s first long-form graphic novel in English.

Han Rakyoung

한라경 (Han Rakyoung) (Korea)

Han Rakyoung spent her childhood as a quiet observer, filled with thoughts. After studying Korean literature and child welfare in university, she began reading books to children in a reading class, which led her to fall deeply in love with picture books. Since then, she has been working in publishing for over than years, planning and editing children’s books.

Alongside editing others’ works, she also writes—giving form to the thoughts she had gathered since childhood. Her writing seeks to capture the warmth in life. Every day, she turns her gaze toward moments of hospitality, care, shared joy, and kindness.

 
Hillary Goh

Hillary Goh (Singapore)

Hillary Goh is an Assistant Editor at Epigram Books. She edits middle-grade novels, young adult and adult fiction. She has 5 years of editorial experience and 3 years teaching English and literary courses at the secondary and tertiary level. Her areas of focus are creative writing and Victorian literature.

Holly Thompson

Holly Thompson (US)

Holly Thompson is author of three verse novels for young people: Falling into the Dragon's MouthThe Language Inside; and Orchards — winner of the Asian/Pacific American Award for Literature, and the picture books Listening to Trees: George Nakashima, WoodworkerThe Wakame GatherersTwilight Chant and One Wave at a Time. A graduate of the NYU Creative Writing Program and Regional Advisor Emeritus of SCBWI Japan, Holly writes poetry, fiction and nonfiction for children, teens and adults; teaches writing at Yokohama City University and UC Berkeley Extension; and visits schools in Japan, the U.S. and places in between.

Huh Jungyoon

허정윤 (Huh Jungyoon) (Korea)

Huh Jungyoon majored in Child Studies in university and pursued graduate research in Early Childhood Education and Pedagogy. She is currently active as a picture book author, animation director, and university professor. In 2017, her book The Transparent Tree was selected for Germany’s White Ravens, and international recognition in children’s and young adults literature. In 2022 Can I Borrow Your Dad? was selected in THE BRAW AMAZING BOOKSHELF at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair.

Her works are known for their unique perspectives and heartfelt sensitivity, leaving a deep impression on readers. Notably, The Hand Reached Out addresses the issue of refugees, emphasizing the importance of empathy and solidarity. Meanwhile, KimSugar and Donas explores themes of sacrifice, devotion, and love through the story of a stray dog and a pet dog.

Huh Jungyoon continues to create meaningful works, delivering stories that inspire and move readers.

Hui-Chun Tseng is the Director of Taichung Public Library in Taiwan. She is dedicated to developing Taichung's reading blueprint, believing that strong reading skills enhance the city's competitiveness. Through the creation of high-quality reading environments and services for readers of all ages, she is shaping Taichung Public Library into a people-oriented reading platform that fosters communication and social participation.

Ibrahim Tahir

Ibrahim Tahir (Singapore)

Ibrahim Tahir is the principal bookseller at Wardah Books, an independent bookshop specialising in Islam and matters of Muslim interest. He has run Wardah Books for over 20 years. Ibrahim has also served as editor for several publishing houses in Singapore, and has worked on community and reference book projects.

Irma Iryanti Juri

Irma Iryanti Juri (Singapore)

Iryanti has been in the Early Childhood profession since 1995. Having spent long hours at the Centre with the children daily, she was determined to engage and involve the parents in their child’s learning journey. Project: READ! was one such initiative, which was a culmination of several programmes with the aim of heightening parental involvement and the children’s experiential learning in language usage and literacy development. She is now a lead lecturer at the National Institute of Early Childhood Development (NIEC).

Jay Panicker is a writer and literary translator. Her writing has been featured in the Quarterly Literary Review of Singapore, The Epigram Books Collection of Best New Singaporean Short Stories: Vol. 5 and Mahogany Journal. Her poetry translations are forthcoming in an anthology published by a Toronto-based publishing house, trace press.

Jo-Ann Shek

Jo-Ann Shek

Jo-Ann Netto-Shek works as a teacher educator of primary school English beginning teachers at the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. She is a children’s literature enthusiast and advocate for the place of literature in the development of reader, community and global identities in children. Josef Lee

Josef Lee (Singapore)

Josef Lee is visual storyteller based in Singapore. With his background in branding and advertising, Josef expanded his skills into the field of animation and founded motion design and creative studio MOJO in 2008. He writes and draws picture stories and published his first picture-book via crowdfunding in 2017. Since then, his works have attracted the attention of publishers from Taiwan and China and has published over 10 picture-books to date. Josef is pursuing a part time MA in Design and is researching combining infographics and comics to create a more effective visual narrative medium.

Joyceline See Tully is a Singaporean children’s book author with a penchant for local wildlife, Singapore lore and glorious food. She has written several children’s books including Tiger Tales, Road Safety with Kay and Bear Bear, Attack at the Mall and The Runaway Car, and co-authored The Little Singapore Book. After working in publishing for more than 25 years as a journalist and magazine editor, she now teaches part-time at a local university and is working on her next children’s book.

Jui-Che Wu  is an image maker and graduate of the MA Visual Communication programme at the Royal College of Art (London), whose practice explores the interplay of poetry, storytelling and material translation. He blends the techniques of collaging and crafting with words, always mindful of the chosen medium's influence on the narrative. 

His work has been featured at the Bologna Illustrators Exhibition (Italy) and the Ilustrarte Biennale (Portugal), and distributed in Taiwan and Portugal. His recent publications include Dancing is to Make Movements (Taipei: Sīlōo Story, 2024), A Grasshopper Hops (Taipei: Locus Publishing, 2023), A Horse, A Boat and An Apple Tree (Lisbon: Stolen Books, 2020), and Le Défilé (London: Self-published, 2019). He received the Golden Tripod Award in 2024, and is the first prize winner of the Golden Butterfly Award in 2025.

Jumaini Ariff

Jumaini Ariff is a published author of 12 children’s picture books & began her foray into storytelling as a preschool educator over 20 yrs. ago. In 2015, her unique persona;  ‘Nek Selampit’ was born and she was invited to participate in numerous national language and cultural campaigns as well as local and international storytelling festivals. Jumaini who is a Malay Language Ambassador in Singapore, helms STORYSCRIBBLERS; an edutainment entity that provides literary based programs for schools and organizations. 

She is currently an associate lecturer with National Institute of Early Childhood Development (NIEC) and teaches storytelling to in-service teachers.

Tail!—originally intended as a short animated film script—was turned into a picture book. Kazumi Wilds

Kazumi Wilds is a picture book illustrator and a creator of Artist’s books who was born in Tokyo, Japan. She holds a bachelor’s degree in traditional Japanese painting, also an M.F.A. degree in Book Art from a university in the U.S. where she studied Papermaking, Letterpress, and Bookbinding. She has illustrated children’s books published in the US, Japan, and Singapore. She worked as a public schoolteacher for a long time in Japan, and also ran an art gallery in the U.S. and in Japan.  She is currently teaching art courses at Temple University Japan Campus in Tokyo.  

Kelly Zhang

Laura Mannering

Laura Mannering (Hong Kong)

Through her work as an educator Laura has witnessed first-hand the power of books and words. An avid reader, and writer, whose love of literature and storytelling led her to the Hong Kong Young Readers Festival in 2022. She now leads the Hong Kong International Literary Festival, as Executive Director, advocating for language education and literacy. Laura is a member of the Hong Kong Women in Publishing Society and the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. She has a BA in Classical Literature from Dalhousie University, and a PDGE in Early Childhood Education from The University of Hong Kong. 

Lee Geum-yi

이금이 (Lee Geum-yi) (Korea)

Korean children's and young adult literature author Lee Geumyi began her writing career in 1984, during a period of new exploration in Korean children's literature. Over the next 40 years, she produced more than 50 works, capturing the hearts of readers and critics alike, spanning from children to adults, and leading the growth of children's literature and the emergence and expansion of young adult literature.

Notable works include the Bamtee Village Story quartet, which continued due to long-standing requests from young readers; the full-length fairy tale You Too Are a Twilight Lily, which elevated the literary quality of Korean children's literature; and Yujin and Yujin, which resonated deeply with the wounds carried by contemporary youth and marked the beginning of serious young adult literature. These works have consistently received much love from children, teens, and adults.

She is also expanding her literary world with historical novels such as Can't I go instead? and The Picture Bride. Recently, she has been revising some of her earlier works to align with the changed sensibilities of the times.

In 2024, she was selected as a finalist for the Hans Christan Andersen Award in the Author category.

Low Ying Ping

Low Ying Ping (Singapore)

Low Ying Ping is the author of two middle grade fantasy series, Mount Emily and Prophecy of the Underworld. She has also written a three-volume English adaptation of the Chinese classic, Journey to the West, for younger children. Lynn Ang is a Senior Librarian with the Collection & Planning Development (Chinese Language) department in National Library Board (NLB). She is also involved in planning and execution of initiatives aimed at promoting the love for reading in Mother Tongue Languages.

Oh Mikyeong

오미경 (Oh Mikyeong) (Korea)

Oh Mikyeong began her career as a children’s writer in 1998 when her middle-grade novella The Shoe Ghost Tree won a competition hosted by the Farmers Newspaper. In 2012, her full-length children's novel Family in Adolescence received the Children’s and Young Adult Literature Award of the Year.

She finds great joy in writing stories that deeply explore the hearts of children and in becoming their friend through her books. Throughout her career, she has written picture books, children's stories, and young adult novels that explore themes such as the environment, dreams, the love and meaning of family, death, and Haenyeo (female divers). She hopes to continue writing engaging and heartfelt stories that inspire children to grow up healthy, bright, and confident.

Her picture book A Granny Diver intertwines the legend of the selkie, a seal fairy from Northern European folklore, with the story of Jeju Island’s Haenyeo. It depicts the ever-changing sea, a grandmother who bravely and skillfully dives like a seal, and her granddaughter, who anxiously watches over her, fearing the loss of her beloved grandmother.

Park Hyunmin

박현민 (Park Hyunmin) (Korea)

Park Hyunmin was born in Seoul in 1986. Park made his debut with So Much Snow, a book inspired by Bruno Munari’s and Remy Charlip’s work in which white paper stands in for white snow. He is most interested in frames, and the physicality of the book itself, and his work tends to focus on a book's physical properties. Park likes to present his readers with negative space (the background) in his books, inviting them to fill in the empty space, and rejoices in the playfulness and insight that result from breaking up the framework.

 
Priscilla Tey

Priscilla Tey is an award-winning illustrator, artist and author. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), she enjoys working with a variety of media from watercolour and gouache paintings, to digital illustrations and multimedia installations. Quek Hong Shin is a children’s book author and illustrator. He holds a Master’s in Malay Studies from the National University of Singapore, where his thesis examined beauty and ugliness in Malay cultural imagination. With over 15 years of experience as a Malay-English translator and interpreter, Rashikin bridges scholarship and practice, offering fresh insights into the Malay world. His research brings together language, culture, and philosophy, highlighting the powerful role of multilingualism in shaping community life and intergenerational connections today.

Ruth Wan

Ruth Wan (Singapore)

Having worked in public communications and publishing for 25 years, Ruth is currently the Publisher at World Scientific Education, where she acquires children’s books on Asian and STEM themes, while managing a team of editors, designers and illustrators.

Ruth is also the author of the bestselling Timmy & Tammy preschool series, which has sold over 400,000 copies. The series has had the honour of being given to all Singaporean babies born in 2015, the year Singapore celebrated 50 years of independence. The series was also presented to Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana by the President of Singapore to commemorate the royal birth. 

Ruth is passionate about encouraging children to love reading and about supporting the local arts.

Sabrina Shah is a British Pakistani author who writes across children’s book genres. With a degree in Media practice, screenwriting and over twelve years of experience working in the UK publishing houses, she now focuses on creating stories of her own. Her debut picture book Music of the Mountains is due to publish in April 2025 with Barefoot Books. Her middle-grade horror story won The Golden Egg Academy award in 2022 and was also a finalist in the 2024 WriteMentor Novel awards. She has also adapted works with Penguin Random House Children’s UK for the BBC Studios licence ‘HEY DUGGEE’.  

Sarah Ang

Sophia Huang

Sophia Huang (Singapore)

Sophia Huang is passionate about upcycling materials into toys and art with her three children, a hobby she shares on her Facebook page, Craftcycle for Kids. Her work is regularly featured in the media, and she has also participated in a video campaign by the National Environment Agency aimed at lowering consumption and waste in Singapore. A highly sought after speaker, she enjoys introducing the concept of upcycling to preschool and primary school children through author visits and hands-on craft and storytelling workshops.

So Yunkyoung

소윤경 (So Yunkyoung) (Korea)

So Yunkyoung has worked as both a children's book illustrator and a picture book author for over 20 years. In Korea, she is known for creating unique fantasy picture books. She explores a wide range of themes not typically found in children's literature, such as humanity’s cruelty toward life on Earth, the hidden side of human pleasures, dazzling depictions of the underworld, as well as war and death. She willingly brings forth dark emotions like conflict and sorrow, aiming to inspire readers with the courage to confront fear.

To her, picture books are “books that embody art”. She integrates various visual art genres—including painting, fantasy, horror, and graphic novels—to craft picture books with new narrative structures.

Additionally, she expands picture books into artistic content across various fields, such as film, animation, performance, and exhibitions. Her goal is to cultivate a picture book culture that can be enjoyed not only by children and young adults but by people of all ages.

 
Sun Chao

孙超,笔名方鱼。马来西亚博特拉大学综合设计博士生,主攻绘本与文学插图创作研究。插画师,山东漫画家协会会员。作品曾入选首届全国动漫美术作品展览、首届中国插画艺术展,第二届全国插图作品展等专业展览。与人民教育出版社、电子工业出版社、二十一世纪出版社,明天出版社等全国多家出版机构合作,与梁晓声、张炜、汤素兰等多位作家合作图画书作品,为谷清平、李天飞等名家系列作品创作文学插图。2019 年参与创立开绘文化,致力于童书创作与儿童内容开发,带领团队完成入选“中国高校动漫出版孵化计划”、“中华思想文化术语传播工程”、“中宣部优秀现实题材文学出版工程”等重点工程的多部图书创作。

Sun Chao specialises in picture book and illustration creation. His works have been selected for the First China Illustration Art Exhibition and other professional exhibitions. He has published many picture books in cooperation with the People's Education Publishing House and other national publishing institutions. In 2019, he co-founded Kaihui Culture, focusing on the creation of children's books and content development. Since then, he has led the team in completing several significant book projects.

Sung Yuen Ling

Sung Yuen Ling (Singapore)

Yuen Ling left the engineering profession to join her family business, Maha Yu Yi Pte Ltd, in 1994. Becoming a mother sparked her search for quality Chinese books, which grew into a passion for children’s literature. In 2008, she started a dedicated children’s bookstore and has spent nearly two decades curating titles that inspire young readers. She works closely with schools and libraries to help foster a love for Chinese reading across generations.

Suriati Abdolah

Suriati Abdolah (Singapore)

An adjunct lecturer, Suriati's passion for the education of young children, has led her to leave public school teaching to be involved in the early childhood sector. In the last two decades, her work has enabled her to design programmes for infants, develop research studies on preschool children and lecture trainee preschool teachers as well as train pre- and in-service preschool teachers. She continues to advocate for children in the community as one of the founders of MAPP (MENDAKI Alliance for Preschool Professionals) and her current work focuses on literacy building for the young especially from low-income families. 
  

Suzy Lee

이수지 (Suzy Lee) (Korea)

Suzy Lee studied painting and book art in both Korea and the UK and have published picture books in various countries around the world. She focuses on works that use the physicality of books and the format of wordless picture books to capture children’s play and energy. She runs Hintoki Press, which publishes new independent books based on Korean folktales.

In 2022, she received the Hans Christian Andersen Award in the Illustrator category, and she has also been honored with several prestigious awards, including the Bologna Ragazzi Award Special Mention in Fiction, the Korean Publishing Culture Award, the New York Times Best Illustrated Children's Books Award, and the Boston Globe-Horn Book Honor.

Some of her representative works include Danced Away, Summer, River, the Black Dog, Lines, Wave, Shadow, and Mirror.

TableMinis is a Singapore-based creative studio founded by Dennet K, Farez Najid, and Jodie, specializing in tabletop role-playing games (TTRPGs) such as Dungeons & Dragons (D&D). Tanya Lloyd Kyi

Tanya Lloyd Kyi is the author of more than thirty books for children and young adults. Tanya has worked in the past as a graphic designer, an editor and a dishwasher. (She considers herself entirely qualified for that last one.) Her favourite color is blue, her favourite food is cheese and her favourite book is A Wrinkle in Time. Tanya teaches at the UBC School of Creative Writing in Vancouver, BC.

Varsha Varghese

Varsha Varghese (India)

Varsha Varghese holds a Master's degree in Development Studies, where her academic training fostered a strong interest in gender studies. Her writing portfolio includes two picture books and a children's reader, drawing on research into the impact of male migration and single-parent household structures. In 2023, she won the Scholastic Asian Book Award for her middle-grade novel, Dear Author, You Are Wrong, which is set to be published by Scholastic Asia in 2025. Her work-in-progress middle-grade historical fiction, set in 1930s Travancore, earned her a place on the shortlists for both the Neev Literature Festival (NLF) Fellowship for Book Creators 2023 and the HWR Emerging Writer's Residency 2024. 

Vivian Teo

Vivian Teo (Singapore)

Vivian Teo is the author of middle-grade book series, My BFF Is an Alien, published by Epigram Books. Books in her series have been shortlisted in the Hedwig Anuar Children's Book Award, Singapore Book Awards and POPULAR Readers’ Choice Awards. The series’ first book won third place in the latter’s English (Children) category in 2020.

Bingjie also holds a Master’s degree in Education and a Master’s degree in Teaching Chinese as an International Language. With a strong background in curriculum development and teacher training, she excels in integrating innovative teaching strategies into her lessons to enrich learning experiences and inspire children's interest in learning.

Woo Yen Yen

Woo Yen Yen is a professor specializing in curriculum development and multimedia production. With husband Colin Goh, she created Dim Sum Warriors, a critically-acclaimed bilingual comic and app series which was adapted into a musical that played in Shanghai and 25 major Chinese cities. They also founded the satirical website TalkingCock.com and made the multiple award-winning movie Singapore Dreaming.

Yazid is an award nominated theatre artist with over two decades of experience in professional theatre. He has performed in more than 60 stage productions.Having trained at the Intercultural Theatre Institute and École Philippe Gaulier, Yazid thrives on cross-disciplinary collaborations and the pleasure of discovery. When not performing he teaches at various performing arts schools in Singapore, where he passionately nurtures young artists with sincerity, joy, and a deep appreciation for creative exploration.

Zhang Mingming holds a PhD in Literature and is a fairy tale writer and an associate professor at Nanjing Communication University. Her primary research areas include children's literature and contemporary Chinese ecological literature, alongside her work in fairy tale creation. She has published over 200 original fairy tales in various children's literature magazines in Mainland China and has authored several picture books
