Crafting Verse Novels: A Workshop Exploring Focus, Structure and Style
Workshop Holly Thompson
This workshop, led by author Holly Thompson, offers participants an in-depth exploration of verse novels, covering the planning process, structure, style, and voice in fiction written in verse. Through discussions and exercises, participants will examine the challenges and options of verse writing, including free verse and specific poetry forms, as well as the impact of lineation, enjambment, rhythm, and figurative language. The workshop will also highlight verse novels featuring individuals from Asia and the Asian diaspora, guiding participants in developing their own manuscript approaches.
