Message from CEO, NLB
The National Library Board (NLB) is glad to partner with the Singapore Book Council for the 16th Asian Festival of Children’s Content (AFCC). Since 2014, NLB has been the home of AFCC. This year, we explore the theme of discovery - a powerful force that drives cognitive development, strengthens emotional resilience, and deepens empathy.
AFCC complements NLB’s mission to spark imagination through meaningful learning experiences. Our long-standing partnership with the Singapore Book Council reflects our shared vision of building a vibrant multicultural landscape for children’s literature—one that nurtures discovery, inspires creativity, and opens up possibilities for all.
This year, AFCC brings together more than 60 speakers, including three presenters from NLB. They will explore the emotional depth of Asian stories and address contemporary challenges in children's literature. South Korea has also been designated as the Country of Focus for this year, and we will all get to explore in greater detail the country’s creative landscape, along with its heritage and culture.
From playful learning and experiential storytelling to the integration of technology into story creation, the festival's diverse programming is in line with NLB’s ongoing efforts to make reading and learning both engaging and accessible for all. Do check out the list of books that NLB has specially curated in the AFCC website.
I extend my heartiest congratulations to the Singapore Book Council for organising the 16th Asian Festival of Children’s Content. May everyone be energised by the joy of discovery!
Warm regards,
Ng Cher Pong
