Rangbhumi Applied Theatre brings to you a session on creating environmental sustainability practices to promote climate literacy amongst the youth through Applied Arts modalities. The speakers will share their practices that involve the community and youth in schools and show how local practices and cultural practices can be applied to save our Mother Earth, or "Dharti Ma” (Hindi). They will present a live demonstration session on using poetry, books, theatre and social arts to create awareness and education on climate change.
Chetna Mehrotra (India)
Chetna is the founder of Rangbhumi: A Happy Playground, an applied theatre organisation. She is an image expression artist, an applied theatre practitioner, a drama based learning facilitator, a TO (Theatre of Oppressed) practitioner, Playback Theatre practitioner, and a Movement practitioner. She is also a Board member of the International Playback Theatre Network (IPTN) and Pedagogy and Theatre of the Oppressed (PTO) and an Advisory Committee member India Drama and Arts Educators Alliance.
Roshan Karkera (India)
Roshan is an Artist and facilitator based in India. He has been a core member of Rangbhumi since 2016. He has been facilitating Applied Theatre medium Arts with schools, NGOs and Corporates. He has attended several Applied Theatre based workshops and talks, and has been part of various online performances depicting the challenges and conflicts in inter-personal, inter-generational and rural-urban relationships. He has keen interest in teacher trainings and embodiment practices.
