Southeast Asia is a unique region with a diverse array of cultures, languages and traditions. The writers in this panel will each share their own take of what a "Southeast Asian" narrative might mean and discuss the similarities and differences of the experiences depicted in their writing.
Aammton Alias (Brunei Darussalam)
Dr. Aammton is a family physician and the author of thirty-three books of supernatural stories. He has won the Brunei Best-seller Award for Real Ghost Stories of Borneo 2. His Real Ghost Stories of Borneo book series is very popular and is the most sought-after book series in Brunei.
虎威 (Hu Wei) (Singapore)
虎威（黄虚怀）是本地建筑师、作家、插画家，在牛车水长大，并于英国剑桥大学修读建筑学。自2016年起，已创作了5本绘本。其“牛车水三部曲”绘本之《小熊的新衣》入选国际权威书目“白乌鸦书选2020”。
Hu Wei (Francis Wong Hooe Wai) is an architect, a writer, and an illustrator who grew up in Chinatown, Singapore and studied architecture at Cambridge University, United Kingdom. Since 2016, he has published five picture books, of which The Little Bear’s New Clothes, part of a Chinatown Trilogy, received the White Ravens 2020 label. This label is given to children and youth literature of international interest.
Shoba Dewey Chugani (Indonesia)
Shoba is the author of Janggan Dragon Kite, which was longlisted for the Scholastic Picture Book Awards in 2015. Shoba has been a management consultant, a preschool owner/teacher, and an early childhood education consultant. She now writes and mentors storytellers and is one of the core team members of KPBA—The Society for the Advancement of Children’s Literature.
