Asian Festival of Children’s Content
21—24 May 2026

Children’s book clubs are more than spaces for reading together. They open arenas for imagination, collaboration, and world-making. When children gather to talk about books, they interpret stories, build shared narrative worlds, and explore alternative possibilities. This presentation will illustrate how book clubs can nurture curiosity, critical thinking, and collaborative imagination.

Gan Sujia

Gan Sujia (Singapore)

Dr Gan Sujia is a lecturer, literacy enthusiast, and lifelong book-lover who teaches academic writing at SUSS. For the past eight years, she has guided students to find their voice on the page, in the classroom, and beyond, proving that academic writing doesn’t have to be dull. Her research looks at how children read metafictive books, the playful ones that break the rules, and how these stories spark dialogue, critical thinking, and global awareness. Outside academia, she escapes through novels, documentaries, and dreamy museum feeds, always chasing stories that stretch the imagination.
