By marrying text and visuals, graphic novels can tell stories and share ideas in ways that illustrations and prose can’t manage on their own. But their uniqueness as a medium also makes comics uniquely challenging to edit. In this masterclass, Ignatz Award winning comic artist Benjamin Wilgus walks through the essentials of editing comics: designing realistic timelines and robust workflows, fostering strong collaborations, playing to the strengths of the format, and keeping up momentum during the creation of a marathon art form.
