A monk who can only write one word. A paper boat that carries an elephant. An orange horse in the city searching for his long-lost brother. In his joyful picture books, Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award nominee Liu Hsu-Kung evokes childlike whimsy, believing that imagination and a little bit of nonsense in picture books can be just as important as imparting lessons, building a foundation of curiosity and joy on which to navigate the world.
