Novels in verse are growing in popularity around the world. Award-winning verse novellist Sally Murphy shares her process, exploring how (and why) she chooses to shape narratives using free verse rather than prose.

Sally Murphy (Australia)
Sally Murphy is an author, poet and academic. Her award-winning books include Pearl Verses the World, Worse Things and Queen Narelle, and she has poems published in magazines and anthologies across the world. Also a passionate educator, she lectures in literacy education at Curtin University in Perth.
Crispin Rodrigues (Singapore)
Crispin Rodrigues is the author of 4 collections of poetry, the latest being dragon.paper.wind. (Pagesetters, 2024). He is also the co-editor of Crazy Little Pyromaniacs, an anthology of young Singapore poets. His work has been featured in several online and print journals. He is currently working on a new poetry collection.
