When Casey announces how boring colours have become, a walk with Dad becomes a time for them to ask their neighbours what their favourite colours are and why. What will Casey find as he explores a world of new exciting colours and uniquely Singaporean experiences?

Andree Ong (Author)

Having been an art student and subsequently a graphic designer, it’s unsurprising that the idea for Casey’s Colourful Day came naturally to Andree. He has long been fascinated with the limitless world of colours and the equally rich cultural significance in perceiving, naming, and using them. Additionally, handling publication and print designs in his job further developed his passion for the written word. Casey’s story, therefore, is the result of him combining this love of colours and language. Andree is Indonesian, but has called Singapore home since 2012. In these years, he has witnessed Singapore’s pride in its identity and culture. Casey’s Colourful Day thus embodies an admiration for that pride too. It is his hope that beyond exploring his personal interest in colours and writing, this book will also elevate and celebrate Singapore’s culture, and by extension, that of Southeast Asia as a whole.

Jordan Gao (Illustrator)

Growing up, Jordan has always been fascinated in creating his own characters and the colourful worlds they live in. It is this passion that led him to Singapore to pursue art in 2017. A graduate of illustration design and animation at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Jordan continues to pursue his career in the arts and design industry in Singapore. In launching Casey’s Colourful Day, Jordan wishes that readers of Casey’s story learn to cherish any fun, colourful moments they encounter, no matter how small they may be. By promoting this spirit of curiosity and discovery, Jordan believes there will always be hope for creativity in Singapore. It is his hope that Casey’s Colourful Day will help introduce children to the wonders and endless possibilities of art, encouraging them to be individuals who dare to dream, imagine, and explore!
