In this musical performance unlike any other, leaves and sounds of nature are used in a one-of-a-kind storytelling. With music and poetry, musicians from Ambon regale a folktale of a poor girl who sang the Batu Badaong song to a rock, which is said to hold the spirits of her ancestors. Join this enthralling performance and find out if she will be saved from her miseries.

inwardBOUND (Drama School)

inwardBOUND has been working with Primary 5 students from Anderson Primary school to develop playlets around the theme ‘Magic in the Community’. The children were asked to brainstorm different ways to create ‘magic’ in their various communities - in class, in school and in their neighbourhoods. The children wrote stories on how to be a better member of their communities by resolving conflicts peacefully, practicing positive values such as respect for all and empathy, and creating a close knit community. Through imagination, play and creation in the dramatic space, the children took ownership of their playlets in rehearsing their characters and crafting props as the backdrop for their stories which they will share with the audience today.

Children, don't miss this rare chance to create a paper puppet based on the Ramayana story, and learn how to start your own puppet shows at home!

A young man named Bassanio borrows money from a money lender, Shylock, to pursue his beloved Portia. His friend Antonio agrees to be the guarantor despite a nasty condition set by Shylock. Will Shylock get his revenge on Antonio, whom he dislikes? Will anyone be able to alter the fate of poor Antonio? Don't miss this wonderful staging of the Shakespearan play, The Merchant of Venice!

The art of storytelling accompanied by music is an ancient tradition practised across Asia. This performance, presented by BronzAge Gamelan (music), Rosemarie Somaiah (storyteller) and James Mayhew (illustrator) is a contemporary take on this tradition and features two well-known legends from Singapore and Indonesia. This performance features original songs composed by Zachary Chan (Tale of Bukit Merah) and arrangements of Sundanese folksongs by Joyce Teo (Legend of Sang Kuriang). Be mesmerised by the Tale of Bukit Merah and the Legend of Sang Kuriang!
