SBC is a nominee for the 2025 Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award!

The prestigious Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award was created in 2002 by the Swedish government to promote every child’s right to great stories. This global award is given annually to a person or organisation for their outstanding contribution to children’s and young adult literature.

For over 50 years, we have been dedicated to developing creativity, imagination, original thought, and empathy. We are thankful for this incredible recognition.

What Attendees Say

AFCC is important because it nurtures emerging voices, champions Asian stories, and builds a supportive community for storytellers. It inspired me to keep creating and reminded me that stories have the power to shape the future.

Junhui Lee, student, volunteer and attendee at AFCC 2025

Each year that I attend AFCC, I gain a better understanding of each country and their culture and the importance of books for all children. I am always amazed to find such a wealth of insight, wisdom and guidance at the AFCC. It makes one feel more connected and part of the greater community.

Stephanie Taylor, teacher, attendee at AFCC 2025

Talking about children's books are like living their life. I have enjoyed my time at AFCC. I hope the festival continues in the future too, as it's a great start and excellent platform for emerging authors as well as established ones.

Mohanapriya, author, attendee of AFCC 2025

Children's Literature tends to be invisible in society despite its importance in nurturing children. So are the people involved in the area. I would like to thank AFCC for creating a space for us to share and to shine

Ngo Ha Thu, translator, speaker at AFCC 2025

AFCC may be where your dreams start from!

Cao Francois, illustrator, attendee at AFCC 2025

I enjoyed speaking at AFCC 2025 and meeting many likeminded educators, writers, and publishers who want to promote Singapore stories. I really appreciated the warm conversations, insights exchanged, and the passion, purpose, and drive that everyone brought to the festival.

Shawn Seah, author, speaker at AFCC 2025
