Zafir Si Tapir Selamatkan Hutan! | Zafir Tapir Saves The Forest!

Ayuh sertai Jumaini Ariff yang juga dikenali sebagai Nek Selampit. Beliau bakal menceritakan bagaimana Zafir Si Tapir dan teman-temannya memandamkan kebakaran hutan dan selamatkan tempat tinggal mereka. Kanak-kanak juga akan membuat kraf tangan 'diorama' Zafir di dalam hutan dengan menggunakan kepingan kadbod yang disediakan.

Join Jumaini Ariff, or Nek Selampit, as she tells how Zafir Tapir rallies his friends to put out a forest fire and save their homes. The children will also be able to create their own diorama of Zafir and his forest home with pre-cut materials.

Join our actors and their cute puppets for an interactive and fun reading of Papa, I’m still not sleepy, the latest children’s book by Woo Yen Yen and Colin Goh. Directed by Benjamin Ho of Paper Monkey Theatre, expect to imagine, laugh, and maybe get very hungry!

Kamishibai ("paper play") is a Japanese street storytelling form which marries moving images with lively storytelling. Once a popular art form, it is enjoying a revival across the world. Renowned writer and illustrator Satoshi Kitamura will introduce the history of this artform, followed by a performance using his own unique kamishibai creations.

身为教育学教授、作者和妈妈,胡恩恩博士将于此工作坊和家长一同探索如何培育有双语、双文化能力的孩子。她将分享于她长住新加坡、台湾、纽约的观察成果,并针对工作坊参与者的经验分享,拟出有益的教育方针。

Education professor, writer and parent Dr. Woo Yen Yen leads this workshop on how parents can create the conditions for nurturing bilingual, biliterate and bicultural children. She will share her research and observations from her time in Singapore, Taiwan and New York, and will work with the experiences shared by attendees to generate useful takeaways.

This session will be conducted in Mandarin.

The Noisiest Tree: A Multilingual Storytelling Session

For children of ages 5 to 8, parents and teachers.

When an adventurous mynah and her family move into the banyan tree, neighbours complain they are noisy. Little Mynah sets out to understand what noisy means, and opens the ears of a young boy to the music of friendship.

The Noisiest Tree is an interactive multilingual storytelling session performed by children, mainly in English with a harmony of Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. It was first performed in TranslateSingapore.  Get a bird's eye view of Singapore's cultural diversity as you help Little Mynah translate, and make some noise!

Our Lion City – Past & Present

In this session, join September 21 as they present two performances based on their publications. 

Performance 1:
Prince Nila discovers a new kingdom: The birth of the Lion City (book preview)

Returning from a raging storm, Prince Nila steps foot onto Batam Island's sunny beaches. The magnificent creature he sees will eventually lead to the founding of our Lion City, Singapura. Ms Amelia Jaishree leads this storytelling, with music accompaniment and dramatisation by the teachers and students of Creativeland Childcare & Development Centre.  The book, Rhyming Round Singapore, uses catchy rhymes and songs to showcase our iconic sites and lifestyles. Audiences can also experience an Augmented Reality (AR) feature, and will be invited to join in the singing.

Performance 2: 
Rhyming Round Singapore (book and CD) 

Written by Kathleen Chia and Linda Gan, Rhyming Round Singapore showcases the present iconic sites and lifestyle of Singaporean with catchy rhymes and songs celebrating our unique success. Audience will be asked to join in the singing. This sing-long is presented by William Royston, the principal singer for Rhyming Round Singapore from Julia Gabriel Centre.

The Muddle of Mahabharatha

மஹாபரதா, என்ற வரலாற்றுக் காவியம், பற்பல வடிவங்களில் பற்பல பார்வையாளர்களுக்குப் படைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. நம்மைக் காட்டிற்கும், மாளிகைக்கும், குடிசைக்கும் கொண்டு சென்றிருக்கும் இந்தக் காவியம் இப்போது விளையாட்டு வடிவில் நம்மை ஈர்த்துச் செல்வது. இந்த நிகழ்ச்சி 6 - 9 வயதுள்ள சிறுவர்களுக்குப் பொருந்தும்.

The Mahabharatha is an Indian epic that has been retold in many forms and to many audiences. This great tale introduces us to magnificent jungle landscapes, deceitful saboteurs and finery of India in prose and plays. Join the next part of this story as Annusia Balan refashions the Mahabharatha into a boardgame format, offering children a chance to experience the adventures of the royal Pandava brothers.

Little Dim Sum Warriors: “Papa, I’m Still Not Sleepy”

Learn Mandarin — with dumplings! Little Dim Sum Warriors is a brand new bilingual book and mobile app series for children aged 3 to 6, developed by award-winning creators Woo Yen Yen and Colin Goh in collaboration with language researcher Tan Dan Feng, and supported by the Lee Kuan Yew Fund for Bilingualism.

The first title in the series is “爸爸, 我还不想睡PAPA I'M STILL NOT SLEEPY”, a hilarious story to which all kids (and parents!) can relate, which will be launched at on 8 September 2018 at the Central Public Library as part of this year’s Asian Festival of Children’s Content. 

The Guests of Honour will be multilingual Golden Horse Award-winning star of stage and screen Yeo Yann Yann and her six year-old daughter Vera. There will also be a dramatized reading of Papa, I’m Still Not Sleepy directed by Benjamin Ho of Paper Monkey Theatre, featuring live actors and specially-designed puppets.

The performance will be conducted in Mandarin. The post-performance discussion with Yeo Yann Yann, Colin Goh and Woo Yen Yen will be conducted in English.
