This session highlights cultural habits that families pass down to their kids, featuring books like Sakto Lang (OMF Literature-Hiyas), and Boy Kendeng and Bianca’s Big Secret (Adarna House).

Dominic Agsaway (Philippines)

Dominic "Domz" Agsaway is a whimsically innovative children’s book illustrator from the Philippines who is behind the webtoon, Nibblings. Domz has won the  PBBY-Alcala Grand Prize (2013) and is a recipient of the National Children’s Book Award-Best Reads Citation for his illustrations in the book, Ngumiti Si Andoy. His debut picture book, Boy Kendeng (Dancing Boy), is his love letter to individuals who are very passionate about their interests and are trying to get to know themselves better. Joshene Bersales

Joshene Bersales (Philippines)

Joshene Bersales is a writer, book editor, and translator. Her first book, Bianca’s Big Secret, was published in 2018. Her story, Hindi Ako Mayumi!, won Honourable Mention at the 2023 PBBY-Salanga Grand Prize. Her stories are featured in several short story anthologies, including Baklas: Antolohiya ng mga Radikal na Kuwentong Pambata. She is also a Filipino translator for the Solid Joys Devotional by theologian John Piper. Joshene likes traveling, theater, and tea. Find her on IG: @joshenebersales.
