Picture books are tools to nurture curiosity and ignite young children's imagination. This session emphasises Southeast Asian and Asian children's literature, showcasing curated wordless and nonfiction picture books. Attendees can gain insights into how educators and parents, in classrooms and homes, can effectively use these books to engage young children.

Amelia Jaishree

Amelia Jaishree (Singapore)

For 16 years, Amelia has mentored education professionals specialising in language and literacy. As a lecturer at the National Institute of Early Childhood Development, she teaches children’s literature, language/literacy, and techniques for preschool education. Amelia conducts Continuing Professional Development (CPD), Continuing Education & Training (CET) programs, and workshops for parents.

Elaine Lee

Elaine Lee (Singapore)

As an educator, Elaine champions imagination, play, and storytelling. With over a decade of mentoring experience across age groups, she focuses on early literacy initiatives. At the National Institute of Early Childhood Development, she lectures on children’s literature, social-emotional learning, and language/literacy. Elaine is currently serving as an advisor to the Ministry of Social and Family Development for Family Values Education projects targeted at preschools.

Kate Brundage

Moderator Kate Brundage (Singapore/ US)

Kate Brundage has been an Elementary School Librarian at the Singapore American School for the past 16 years. She is currently serving as the International School Libraries Network (ISLN) representative on the AFCC Teachers and Parents Programme Committee.
