Country of Focus: The Philippines

AFCC is proud to feature the Philippines as the Country of Focus for 2024. 

As we mark 55 years of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Singapore in 2024 AFCC has invited Philippines to be the Country of Focus this year.

This year, meet Filipino writers, storyweavers and creatives as they bring to you the best of Filipino children’s content and stories, while promoting cross-cultural understanding and encouraging book collaborations between Singapore and the Philippines. 

Co-organised with the National Book Development Board (NBDB) and Books Philippines, join us in celebrating the rich and diverse Filipino literary culture in a series of talks, panel discussions and workshops.

At the COF booth in the AFCC Book Fair, attendees will be introduced to outstanding Filipino children's books, public performances and reading initiatives across Philippine regions, languages and international translations.

Award-winning and upcoming Filipino illustrators are also part of a special section of the annual Book Illustrators Gallery (BIG), reflecting the unique flavour, vibrancy and artistry of Philippine illustrations throughout the years.

AFCC, through the NBDB, has likewise commissioned award-winning Filipino artist Beth Parrocha to create the AFCC 2024 key visual.

An AFCC Festival Pass allows access to COF Philippines sessions.
