The National Library Board promotes and nurtures lifelong reading and learning in the Mother Tongue Languages through engaging programmes and an extensive collection of digital and physical resources. This session will share the strengths and gaps in Children Literature in MTL, especially local Singapore content, and how translated works can cultivate the love to read in MTL in our children

Jane Wee

Jane Wee (Singapore )

Jane has been a librarian with NLB since 1993. She started her career as a Librarian with the Public Libraries, joined the National Reference Library in 1998, and between 2012 to 2015, was the Region Head of Eastern Libraries comprising six branches in the Eastern part of Singapore. Currently the Head of Chinese Language, she is responsible for the overall strategic directions and implementation of nationwide reading programmes for the Chinese Language. Her team works on the development of the Chinese physical and digital collections in the entire public library network.

Zubaidah Mohsen

Zubaidah Mohsen (Singapore )

Zubaidah’s career spans three decades of librarianship, managerial roles, and leading projects; heading the first RFID library, setting up the Children’s Services, seeding the Early READ programme and focusing on the professional development of Librarians and Job Redesign project for Library Officers. Zubaidah holds Master of Science Degrees in Information Studies and in Early Childhood Education. Presently Zubaidah oversees the Malay Language Services, responsible for the overall strategic directions and implementation of quality nationwide reading programmes for the Malay Language. Her team works on the development of the Malay physical and digital library collections in the public library network.
