A key feature of the Asian Festival of Children’s Content (AFCC), the Book Illustrators Gallery (BIG) showcases diverse artwork from picture books, comics and graphic novels by illustrators and artists from Southeast Asia, Asia and the Asian diaspora.

It offers a platform for the authors, publishers and the public to take notice of your illustrations. The BIG will be available at the Central Public Library for viewing from 1 June to 30 June 2020.

Who Can Apply:

i) Illustrators whose artwork has been featured in children’s books, comics or graphic novels published between July 2019 and April 2020.

ii) Illustrators should be of Asian descent, or in Asia or have illustrations dealing with OR of Asian diaspora.

iii) Please ensure that you have read and understood the Submission Guidelines below before completing the online form.

Submission Guidelines:

i) Each applicant is allowed to submit a maximum of five (5) pieces of illustration.

ii) Please do not re-enter the same illustration submitted to BIG in previous years.

iii) Please provide digital illustrations in high resolution (at least 300dpi) and as a thumbnail in jpeg (.jpg) format within the BIG 2020 Submission Form. Please save all your illustrations into a single folder. All illustrations must be individually labelled with the book title that they are from. Name the folder in the following format: BIG2020_[Applicant name] (e.g. BIG2020_Jane Tan). Compress the folder and upload it as a zipped (.zip) file in the online form.

iv) Please do not send or post the original illustration to Singapore Book Council (SBC). SBC will not be responsible for any loss or damage to the illustration(s).

v) The maximum size of any illustration exhibited in BIG is A2.

vi) Through the submission of the illustration(s) for the BIG, the applicant agrees to allow SBC to use a reproduction of the illustration(s) for the BIG exhibition, online gallery and publicity of AFCC and Singapore Book Council, both online or in print.

SBC strongly encourages artists whose illustrations have been selected to drive their own publicity to create awareness of the exhibition of their work.

Applications for BIG 2020 will open on 23 March and close 24 April 2020 2359h (SGT).
