We are looking for energetic and positive individuals to assist us in ensuring that the festival runs smoothly and that our delegates have a pleasant experience at AFCC.

Volunteers are needed for the following roles:

  • Room Managers
    • Responsibilities: room setup, meet and greet speakers, assisting with Q&A, timekeeping, audience headcount, distribution and collection of feedback forms.
       
  • Front of House
    • Responsibilities: checking tickets, registration and enquiries, wayfinding, and assisting with visitor feedback.
       
  • Festival Assistants
    • Responsibilities: logistics setup & preparation and standing in for other roles when necessary.
       
  • Photographers
    • Responsibilities: event coverage during AFCC. Your photos may be used for Singapore Book Council's publicity and marketing purposes on social media and other platforms. It is preferable that you have a DSLR camera of your own.
       
  • Artist Liaison Officers
    • Responsibilities: main contact point between international speakers and the AFCC organising team. ALOs are to accompany their assigned speakers and keep track of their festival schedules. The AFCC organising team may ask for a preliminary meeting with ALO applicants.

General Requirements

  • Applicants must be based in Singapore. 
  • Applicants should be aged 18 and above. Applicants below the age of 18 must gain consent from a parent/guardian and submit a consent form prior to volunteering. 
  • Successful applicants are required to attend a pre-event briefing in mid-August and must be able to volunteer for a minimum of one (1) full day from 5 to 8 September 2019.
  • Experience in events management preferred, but not strictly necessary.

  • Volunteers will receive a complimentary AFCC Festival Pass upon the completion of a minimum one (1) full duty day.
  • Volunteers will also receive a Certificate of Appreciation, in recognition of their contribution to the festival.

All selected volunteers would be required to attend a compulsory briefing on either 14th or 16th August at the National Library. All selected volunteers will be informed of the briefing details via email.
