The Book Illustrators Gallery (BIG) is a public showcase of works by illustrators and artists featuring published picture book art.

The exhibition acknowledges and promotes the works of talented illustrators and artists with links to Asia, connecting them with new and regular patrons of children and illustrated work. 

BIG is held on 27 Aug to 30 Sep at the Central Public Library Programme Zone.

BIG shortlist coming out soon!

Applicants whose illustrations are selected will be able to purchase a 3-day festival pass at 50% off. Applicants who submitted but were not selected will be able to buy passes at 30% off.

BIG 2019 Curators

David Liew

David “Wolfe” Liewis an illustrator, cartoonist,sculptor, and model-maker. He also illustrates for Eliza Teoh’s Ellie Belly series as well as the Plano Adventures by Hwee Goh and Mo Dirani. Two books he illustrated: The Adventures of Squirky the Alien series, written by Melanie Lee, won the Samsung Kidstime Award and a Crystal KiteAward from the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI). David is the current Regional Advisor of Singapore SCWBI.

Ben Lai

A Red Dot Design Award recipient, Ben Lai has worked in the industrial design, brand experience, animation, mobile app and gaming industries. He draws inspiration from things that enable us to better appreciate our relationships with our surroundings and people. Owing to his extensive experience, Ben is especially interested in cross-disciplinary collaborations as he currently explores his passion for crafting picture books.

Darel Seow

Darel Seow is a visual storyteller who illustrates the tales of the natural world through his unique brand of wry wit and whimsy. He believes in the draw of storytelling as a means of engagement, creating experiences that simultaneously excite and educate. Particularly interested in heritage and culture, he enjoys working with museums and cultural institutions to encourage learning through the power of imagination and play.

Paula Pang

Paula Pang is an illustrator who draws to make new discoveries, tell a story and connect with people. Looking at life with brimming curiosity, she weaves her observations together with her quiet and mischievous nature to create a world where impossibilities are made possible. In her works she is known to illustrate animals that have been said to be whimsical and witty with a touch of softness. She illustrated a variety of books locally and overseas. Her latest works in Singapore includes the Nature Playtime Series - Emma and Popo.
