With the entry of Books Actually as a comic publisher in Singapore, it joins Epigram Books, TCZ, ACAS and other self-publishers in putting out graphic novels. Comic book publishing is still nascent despite having been around since the 1980s. What sort of stories do writers and artists tell using this medium and why did they choose comics to tell their stories? This paper explores some of these issues.
