Dr Ng Seok Moi

Consultant

Dr Ng Seok Moi works as a consultant to ministries of education, teacher education institutes, universities, and schools in Asia. She specialises in supporting young learners of English as a second/foreign language. For more than twenty years, she has worked in collaboration with classroom teachers in projects set up specifically to study classroom problems, pose questions, find answers and then make recommendations for classroom practice. In the last few years, she has been advising language projects (from kindergarten, primary to lower secondary grades) in Singapore and Hong Kong. Her research and publications focus on teaching English to speakers of other languages, emergent literacy, in-service teacher education and educational change. She has made invitational keynote presentations to universities and teachers in several countries including Taiwan, Hong Kong, the Philippines, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Canada and the United States. She was a featured speaker at a highlighted session for international literacy leaders at the IRA 20th World Congress on Reading and has delivered several plenary presentations at the SEAMEO Regional English Language Centre annual seminars in Singapore. She is currently acting as consultant for the MOE Stellar programme.
